kulturbytes helps you discover events, cultural venues and activities that match your interests. Our goal is to make cultural information easier to access and to bring the diversity of cultural life together in one place.

To achieve this, kulturbytes provides an open platform where cultural institutions, projects, community initiatives and event organisers can publish their activities. Visitors can browse, search and filter this information free of charge through a simple, accessible and easy-to-use interface.

kulturbytes is open to everyone. Using the platform is completely free – both for people looking to discover culture and for organisations, initiatives and independent creators who want to make their activities more visible. Our aim is to make access to cultural information as simple and barrier-free as possible.

Making Smaller Organisations Visible

Smaller cultural organisations, associations, community initiatives and independent artists often do not have the same opportunities for digital visibility as larger institutions. That is why kulturbytes places a special focus on helping these voices become more visible. A vibrant cultural landscape is not created by major institutions alone, but equally by the countless dedicated people and projects that shape cultural life in cities, towns and rural communities.

Built by the Community, for the Community

kulturbytes is developed by volunteers and released as open-source software. The project began in November 2025 at OK Lab Flensburg.

We believe that digital infrastructure for culture should be open, transparent and developed collaboratively. Everyone is welcome to understand how the platform works, suggest improvements or contribute directly to its development. Step by step, this creates an independent and continuously growing overview of cultural life – built by the community, for the community.

Open, Diverse and Inclusive

kulturbytes is a platform dedicated to culture and cultural participation. Our mission is to make cultural opportunities accessible to as many people as possible while strengthening connections between cultural organisations, artists, organisers and audiences.

kulturbytes is not a platform for party-political communication. Events whose primary purpose is political campaigning or party-political advocacy are therefore not included in the event calendar. This policy applies equally to all political parties and viewpoints.

kulturbytes stands for a diverse, open and democratic cultural landscape. We aim to make cultural opportunities easier to access regardless of origin, age, gender, identity, disability, religion or worldview, and to encourage cultural participation for everyone. Respect, openness and mutual appreciation form the foundation of our work.
